Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman has announced that the government will take necessary measures if any incident of ‘push-in’ or forced infiltration occurs at the Bangladesh-India border. He also stated that important discussions regarding the Teesta Master Plan will take place during the upcoming visit to China.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the State Guest House Padma on Tuesday (May 5).

Responding to a question about any apprehension of ‘push-in’ from India, the Foreign Minister said that Bangladesh has already lodged a strong protest following such remarks by the Chief Minister of Assam. He added that the government is prepared to take necessary steps if any such incident occurs in the future.

When asked if the Teesta Master Plan would be discussed during the China visit, he affirmed that the matter would be discussed during the trip.

The Foreign Minister further stated that the Teesta River is extremely important for the people of the region it concerns. He reiterated that solving the problems of this region is a commitment of the government, and necessary initiatives are being taken to achieve this goal.
